Monday Evening classes
6:30pm to 8:00pm
There are six classes to the series.

Public Health Unit
Weekend classes
Friday 6:00pm to 8:30pm
Saturday 9:30am to 4:30pm
These are offered every six weeks; if there is a minimum of 3 couples to a maximum of  6 couples. 

 

Cost: $50.00 for series of six classes, or for the weekend class; there is no refund for individual classes not attended.

Registration: advance registration is required; you can go in person to the Yellowknife Public Health Unit, Jan Stirling Building, or call 920-6570.  The recommended time to begin attending the classes is around 30 weeks.

It is suggested that you bring a support person to each class with you.  It doesn't always have to be the same person, but it should be someone you plan to have at the birth.

Topics include: relaxation techniques, birth as a rite of passage, warning signs in pregnancy, labour and delivery, hospital tour, caesarean birth and medical interventions, infant nutrition, the early days and transition to parenthood.
