Family Enhancement
Family Enhancement is a new program providing support services to youth and families with children, including children with special needs.
Programs include:
"Healthy Family Program"
- A voluntary home visitation program for families with newborn babies.
- Services are initiated prenatally or shortly after birth.
- Family home visitors work from a strength-based approach to promote healthy childhood growth and development, positive parenting and parent-child bonding.
- Home visitors also link parents to other services and programs in the community.
- Families can refer themselves or be referred through their health care provider (doctor/nurse).
- There is no cost for the program.

"Voluntary Support Agreements"
- Sometimes families need some help to effectively address the challenges that they experience in life.
- "Voluntary Support Agreements (VSA)" are offered to parents experiencing a number of different challenges as they try to address the needs of their children and families.
- A community social service worker will provide individual assessment and develop support plans.
- Through the VSA the parents and their children (ages 0-15 years) gain access to services and programs they need, at the right time and from the right service provider.
- Families can refer themselves.
"Support Service Agreements"
- Support Services Agreement are available for youth ages 16-18 when they need a stronger support system to help them as they transition from youth to adulthood.
- Youth can refer themselves.
- A community social service worker will provide individual assessment and develop support plans.
